A word from the President

Making health accessible to every Cameroonian.

Health is more than the absence of disease. It depends on information, quality care, well-trained health workers, research and a genuine presence alongside communities.

It is in this spirit that I founded the Cameroon Heart & Health Foundation: to strengthen prevention, screening and access to care, with a focus on cardiovascular health, chronic diseases, community health and health education, supported by research and training.

My ambition is to build, together with professionals, communities, institutions and everyone willing to help, practical, responsible and lasting projects that serve health in Cameroon.

The Foundation

A Cameroonian foundation serving the health of all.

A non-profit organisation, the Cameroon Heart & Health Foundation designs and supports health initiatives for the people of Cameroon, with particular attention to the most vulnerable areas and individuals.

Its work covers prevention, health education, access to care, community health, research, training, social support and backing for medical projects of public interest.

major areas of commitment

Seven areas to act across the entire health pathway.

From information to referral, through prevention, research and support, the Foundation acts at every stage of the health pathway.

Prevention and screening

Informing people about risk factors, organising screenings and identifying early the situations that call for care.

Health education

Turning medical information into clear reference points so that everyone can recognise warning signs and make informed decisions.

Access to care and referral

Helping each person find the right service, understand the next steps and reach available health professionals.

Community health

Designing activities with communities, associations and local actors, as close as possible to realities on the ground.

Research and health data

Producing useful knowledge, protecting the data collected and using it to improve programmes and public health policy.

Training

Strengthening the skills of health workers, volunteers and community relays involved in prevention and support.

Social support and medical projects

Supporting people held back by social barriers and backing medical projects of public interest whose value has been demonstrated.

dimensions of a global vision of health

An approach to health in all its dimensions.

A diagnosis does not tell the whole story of an illness. Living conditions, access to information, quality of care, social environment and continuity of follow-up all shape each person’s health.

Link prevention and care

Prevention, screening, referral and support form a single pathway, never isolated actions.

Consider everyday circumstances

Every response takes into account the person’s family, economic, geographical and cultural reality.

Connect fieldwork and knowledge

Field observations feed research; scientific advances in turn improve the work on the ground.

Work across sectors

Communities, health workers, institutions, associations and partners move together towards shared, clearly defined goals.

principles serving communities’ interests

The interests of communities come first.

Every project meets a real need, respects the people involved and brings tangible improvement. The Foundation’s visibility never comes before the dignity, safety or interests of beneficiaries.

Start with real needs

Priorities stem from observed problems, dialogue with communities and the advice of health professionals.

Protect dignity and confidentiality

Every person is informed, listened to and protected. No personal data or individual situation is ever used for communication purposes.

Reduce inequalities

Rural areas, isolated people and those facing financial or social barriers are a priority.

Require measurable usefulness

Resources used are traceable, results are evaluated and difficulties are reported with full transparency.

Our commitments

Five commitments that guide everything we do.

Usefulness, dignity, rigour and cooperation: these standards steer every Foundation project towards lasting progress.

Programmes designed with communities

Communities, health workers and local actors take part both in assessing needs and in shaping responses.

Equitable access to prevention and care

Rural and isolated populations, and those weakened by financial, social or geographical barriers, receive priority attention.

Person-centred support

Information, referral and support are adapted to each person’s medical, family, social and geographical situation.

Protected and useful health data

Research and data serve the public interest, respect individuals and inform health decisions.

Transparent use of resources

The use of donations, activities carried out, results achieved and difficulties encountered are rigorously documented.

Governance & team

The Foundation’s board.

Leadership, administration, financial management and oversight: board members ensure the Foundation runs properly, in line with its statutes.
